Proyecta selects 15 projects in search of co-production opportunities
- Organised by Ventana Sur, the Cannes Marché du Film and the San Sebastián International Film Festival, the industry event will run from 27 November-1 December in Buenos Aires
Proyecta, a collaborative initiative involving Ventana Sur, Cannes’ Marché du Film and the San Sebastián International Film Festival, is set to host the presentation of 15 film projects. These are helmed by directors seeking additional funding and new partnerships for their debut or sophomore features. The programme aims to introduce these projects to industry professionals, including producers, international sales agents and festival programmers, with the goal of fostering co-production between Europe and Latin America.
The sixth instalment of Proyecta will take place both in person and online as part of the Ventana Sur market’s 15th edition. It will commence in Buenos Aires with an engaging pitching session by the project producers on 29 November, followed by in-person, one-on-one meetings on 30 November.
This year's selection showcases the diversity and creativity of emerging filmmakers from around the world. The chosen projects consist of 11 Latin American endeavours from countries such as Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Cuba, Honduras, Mexico and Peru. Additionally, there are four European projects with strong connections to Latin America. Among these, two projects have German and Norwegian production ties, while two are Spanish productions. Notably, one of the Spanish projects includes the Spanish-Chilean co-production Three Black Nights by Théo Court, previously featured at the Europe-Latin America Co-Production Forum during the San Sebastián Film Festival.
Thanks to new partnership agreements, selected project representatives will have a unique opportunity to compete for two prestigious invitation awards for the first time. Firstly, they can secure an invitation to the Sørfond Pitching Forum for the following year. This forum provides them with the chance to pitch their selected Sørfond-eligible projects to potential Norwegian co-producers and gain direct access to apply for support from Sørfond (if the project involves a Norwegian co-producer). Secondly, representatives can anticipate participating in one of the Inspirational Labs at next year's WEMW (When East Meets West) Co-Production Market.
